ManifestationYin: A Room Of One’s Own

The sense of being pulled in many different directions by inner and outer forces can have the effect of feeling depleted, cloudy, disconnected, or frozen and unable to flow with ease.

We use this state as an opportunity to turn inward and activate fierce presence to awaken to the deeper space within, in poses that inspire deeper listening to allow your own innate knowing to rise to the surface. The Buffalo drum will be used to help synchronize with Earth energy.

ManifestationYin is a healing yoga ritual comprised of poses to open the body and mind for inner warriors who wish to awaken to their deeper powers.

THE ART OF ACTIVE NETWORKING

At this event you will make some amazing connections and you will learn why Networking is not about what you get, but what you give and what I call my #MyGive4. You really only need to meet one person to make your entire night worthwhile if you know what you are doing. You will have an opportunity to speak to everyone in the room, and you will absolutely meet people you might otherwise never have an opportunity to meet and you will see that's it's not what you are selling or how you sell it that matters. Instead, learn the importance of building 'know, like and trust' relationships!

With that in mind we ask that you consider helping yourself and each other with those struggles by attending our events and sharing yourself and your knowledge, and practicing what we call #MYGIVE4 where we ask each of you to consider helping others for 4 hours a week in the following 4 ways.

1. GIVE of your ideas and talent freely! Share your vast life experience to help another.

2. GIVE of your time! Volunteer! Help a neighbor with a chose, carry someones groceries, volunteers at a soup kitchen or for a non-profit!

3. GIVE of your money! I'm not asking for your fortune, even 25 cents in a hat or 5 dollars to a crowdfunding campaign or in the basket at church can go a long way to someone struggling.

4. GIVE of your network through referrals! I now folks, you know folks, and the way we really do business is by building “Know, like and trust” based relationships! If I refer you and someone knows, likes and trusts the person, they will call you back or offer help when referred.

Come see why over 15,000 people have attended in 5 countries and 17 cities worldwide! Each event starts at 6:45pm and ends about 9:45pm!

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW TICKET PRICING:

Early Bird Tickets: $15 (Until 1week before the event)

Regular Tickets: $20 (The week of the event)

Day of the Event Tickets: $25 (24 hours before the event)

Student Tickets: $10 (You MUST have a current student ID)

Tickets are always available on our website until 6:15pm the day of the event and walk-ins are 30$ CASH at the door until 7:15pm!

All tickets on our Meetup Groups will remain $20 in advance!

As always Veterans are FREE, thank you for your service.

Our Mantra: "The power of us all working together is so much greater than anything each of us can accomplish on our own."

Humanitas Play LA WORKSHOP

The Humanitas Play LA Workshop is expanding its presence in Los Angeles, it was announced today. After last year's successful partnership with Centre Theatre Group, Play LA is broadening its focus. Each of the six plays developed from the ground up in this year's workshop will be given works-in-progress readings in the inaugural Humanitas Play LA Festival of New Works on April 28, 29, and 30. Six celebrated local theatres will be partnering with Humanitas to give these developing works a physical space in which to grow.

Now in its second year, the Humanitas Play LA Workshop develops plays by Los Angeles writers "from the ground up." This year, four of the plays developed and recognized in the 2016 workshop are receiving their world premieres on local stages -Good Grief by Ngozi Anyanwu (Kirk DouglasTheatre), Lord of the Underworld's Home for Unwed Mothers by Luisa Hill and Driven by Boni B. Alvarez (The Skylight Theatre), and The House in Scarsdale by Dan O'Brien (Theatre @ Boston Court). In addition to a $1500 stipend, each playwright has access to advice from theatre, film, and television professionals throughout the year. The workshop culminates in a festival of new works-in-process plays, produced in conjunction with some of LA's most celebrated local theatres.

Cathleen Young, Executive Director of Humanitas, said, "We are incredibly excited to nurture these amazing Southern California playwrights." Workshop Director Shem Bitterman agrees. "This is a wonderfully talented and diverse group of writers, each working from and expressing their own unique voices. I am thrilled and grateful to have this opportunity to support them," he said.

This year's plays, writers, and participating theatre companies are The Beast by Tatiana Pico Suarez (The Road), The Kid by Patrick Burleigh (The Skylight), Momma Metallica by Sigrid Gilmer (IAMA), Quiver by Meg Miroshnek (Rogue Machine), Uncovered Cities by Cory Hinkle (Circle X), and The Wall and The Dinosaur by Chelsea Sutton, (Playwrights Arena).

In addition, the festival will feature new plays-in-progress readings by two Humanitas honorees - John Sacret Young (China Beach) and Tom Schulman (Dead Poet's Society). The festival will be helmed by PLAY LA Director, award-winning playwright and screenwriter Shem Bitterman. Tim Furlong is co-director and Karen Gaul is associate producer. All events are free and open to the public, but reservations are required. For specific schedule information and to RSVP, go tohttps://www.eventbrite.com/o/humanitas-play-la-festival-13169141186.

Since its inception in 1974, The Humanitas Prize has awarded over $3 million to more than 320 deserving television and motion picture writers whose work affirms the dignity of the human person, probes the meaning of life, and enlightens the use of human freedom. Humanitas exists to encourage, stimulate, and sustain the nation's screenwriters in their humanizing task, and to give them the recognition they deserve. The Humanitas Prize is funded by an endowment established through the generosity of individuals, networks, studios, and foundations.

Past winners of the Humanitas Prize include David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook), Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station), Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious), Steve Levitan (Modern Family and Frasier); Ryan Murphy (Glee), Robert & Michelle King (The Good Wife), David E. Kelley (The Practice and Picket Fences), Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting), Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List), David Shore (House), Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing), Tim Robbins (Dead Man Walking), Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights), Andrew Stanton, Jim Reardon, and Pete Docter (WALL-E), Aseem Batra (Scrubs), Nancy Oliver (Lars and the RealGirl), Eric Roth & Michael Mann (The Insider), Paul Haggis (Crash), Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue), and Keir Pearson & Terry George (Hotel Rwanda).

Workshop director Shem Bitterman has written over 30 produced plays and screenplays. Awards include PEN USA (Harm's Way), CBS/FDG New Play Program (Iowa Boys), Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays (Beijing Legends), SCR California Playwrights Competition (The Ramp), and the LA Drama Critics Circle Ted Schmitt Award (The Job). His teleplay Betty & Coretta was nominated for a Humanitas Award and his film Whitney, directed by Angela Bassett, aired on Lifetime in January 2015, and garnered him an NAACP Image Award nomination. His play, The Stone Witch starring Judd Hirsch, premiered at Berkshire Rep during the summer of 2016 and will be produced off Broadway this coming fall. In 2011, Bitterman initiated the PlayLab at LA's Skylight Theatre, which has been responsible for mentoring more than 25 original plays from idea to completion.

MEDITATION W/ SAHIL

The breath is a direct connect to the mind and beyond. It has the ability to make dramatic changes to emotions, brain activity, mental chatter and other numerous mental and physical attributes. The use of the breath is the traditional base for all Yoga and Meditation.
In our session we will use your breath though specific Pranayama exercises to revitalize the body and inversely the mind. With the help of this great tool (breath) we will be able to take ourselves into deeper forms of meditation and self healing. We will also add self healing to the energy centers of the body which will help to increase the energy and circulation in the system. Deep concentrated rest is what will be achieved which is welcomed by our bodies and mind in this day and age of constant exposure to chaos.

The session in simple words entails -

- Short conversation about a topic which will help recondition the mind.

- Breath work and traditional techniques to slow down the mental activity.

- Progrssively deeper Meditation and deep relaxation.

The techniques are all traditional techniques used by me from my teacher when I lived in india and are specifically designed to achieve peace of mind and happiness.

RAISE YOUR VOICE BENEFIT CONCERT

Right now millions of people are displaced from their homes through no fault of their own. Their tragedy should not be observed with silence but met with a global chorus of empathy and support. RAISE YOUR VOICE is an ongoing fundraising campaign that connects concerts to a cause. Local musicians will join their voices with the L.A. community to fundraise on behalf of the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

The IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping people survive, recover, and reclaim control of their future. They work on all fronts: within countries that refugees are fleeing, in neighboring countries receiving refugees, and here in the United States resettling refugees.

Proceeds from RAISE YOUR VOICE will go to the local Los Angeles chapter of the IRC. The online fundraiser will continue through the month of April, but a donation at the door is recommended for concert attendance. Money can’t solve all violent conflict, but it can help rebuild lives. Join us at Hyperslow, a cafe + yoga and meditation studio, for a night of music, community, and solidarity.

YANG/YIN YOGA & GONG BATH WORKSHOP

6:30 pm18:30

YANG/YIN YOGA & GONG BATH WORKSHOP

Most of us are seeking out balance in our lives, but we don’t know how to achieve it, maintain it, or why we fell out of balance in the first place. The Taoists teach us about two opposing energies called “yin” or in-flowing energy and “yang” out-flowing energy. The “yang” energy is how we are out in the world, our power, how we get things done. The “yin” energy is our internal world, our relationship to ourselves, our ability to get quiet and receive. These energies need to be in an even flow for us to feel energized and relaxed at the same time. In this two- hour practice, we will divide our time evenly between these two forces. The first part of our sequencing will begin with the “yang” practice in which we will heat the body through sun salutations and standing postures seamlessly put together into a vinyasa flow sequence. This time is designed to burn off impurities, to literally melt away the tension and stress that resides in the pockets of the body. The second half of the practice will take the open cleansed body through long hip openers, restorative postures, pranayama and meditation. Your svasana is the final part of the practice where we bathe you in the healing sounds of the gong. This process will rejuvenate the body leaving you feeling peaceful, passionate and balanced.

An evening with Dana Kraft and Clay Allen.
